Tillamook

Summer is officially here for us in Georgia – well the unofficial start of summer. Memorial Day weekend usually marks the unofficial start of summer but with school being out and the weather relentlessly hot, I think it’s more than safe to say that it is summer! For me, that usually means staying cool and keeping my kids entertained which can be challenging.

Ice Cream Sundae Bar

In an effort to keep my kids entertained, I made a bucket list of items for us to do throughout the summer. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw that I shared it in my stories, I even asked for some additional ideas which I added to my list. I wanted to keep it inexpensive but something that both a 7 and a 2-year-old can enjoy. Here’s what’s on our list:

Summer Bucket List

  •         Water park
  •         Pool
  •         Splash Pad
  •         Free zoo
  •         Playground
  •         Library/ bookstore
  •         Beach trip
  •         $1 movies
  •         Backyard camping
  •         Ice cream playdate

Ice Cream Sundae Bar

Here in the South, the summers are hot and sweaty and what better way to cool down than with a cool treat? A great way to entertain the kids is with an ice cream sundae bar. Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts so I was pleased to see that Publix carries Tillamook ice cream! I’m an ice cream fanatic and Tillamook checks all my boxes – they offer a wide variety of flavors that most people love and is oh so good! I also love that it’s made with the highest quality ingredients; the cows aren’t given growth hormones and there is no high fructose corn syrup. This makes for a rich, creamy ice cream that doesn’t taste artificial and I’m all about that.

Now about this ice cream sundae bar play date, this was a treat for the kids and me! I kept it fairly simple and chose a few flavors that I knew the kids would eat and a couple of toppings that they would be sure to love. Keep in mind this is a playdate and the key is to keep it relaxed and stress-free, so don’t go overboard!!

I headed to the nearest Publix and grabbed a container of Tillamook Old-Fashioned Vanilla and Marionberry Pie Ice Cream. For toppings, I picked up whipped cream, maraschino cherries, chopped strawberries, rainbow sprinkles, and chocolate candy. I chose these because I knew my kids would definitely eat them, but the great thing about an ice cream sundae bar is that it’s totally customizable! You can add blueberries, pound cake, chocolate syrup, caramel or various candy bars; the sky’s the limit!

I set everything on my kitchen island because it was close to my freezer (ice cream stayed cool until needed but was close by) and it was easy to clean up any messes made. I set out spoons, cups, and cones and let the kids choose what they wanted and they loved it, so I would say that it was a home run!  It’s safe to say that summer is off to a good start. Whatever your plans are for the summer, be sure to include Tillamook ice cream! Be sure to visit Publix during June 15-July 13 and grab a few containers of Tillamook and anything else you need for your summer entertaining and to create your own ice cream sundae bar!
