PASTELITOS DE GUAYABA: GUAVA PUFFS

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets frozen Puff Pastry
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 8 oz guava paste
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Let puff pastry stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes until defrosted but not soft.
  • Unfold and roll to form a slightly larger rectangle.
  • Slice guava paste into strips and cut cream cheese into strips.
  • Place 9 pieces of guava paste, 3 in a row, equally spaced. Top each piece of guava paste with 1 piece of cream cheese.
  • Mix egg yolk with water. Brush in between the guava paste with egg yolk.
  • Place the second sheet of puff pastry that’s been rolled slightly larger, on to.
  • Press in between and then cut using a knife to form 9 individual pastries.
  • Place on a baking sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with egg wash then place into preheated oven and bake for 15-17 until golden brown.
  • Place on a wire rack to cool.
